Screw Driven DAC for Optical & X-ray Applications
Please note that a familiar variant of this cell, the Diacell® SymmDAC, may be purchased online at DiamondAnvils.com.
Product Description
In this ingenious cell high-pressures are generated by forcing together two diamond anvils along a common axis, by means of two pairs of left-hand/right-hand M5 bolts. Some features of the Diacell® Diaclamp are:
• The cell has a piston and inner cylinder that are separate from the outer parts of the cell by which load is generated, thus largely avoiding distortions of the piston-cylinder assembly at the highest pressures.
• All the anvil adjustments for translation and tilt are on the inner cell, which is easily removed from the outer assembly for maintenance. Alignment marks (in red) assure correct re-assembly.
• The Diacell® Diaclamp is designed to allow especially easy and uncluttered access to the lower anvil and its associated gasket ring, thereby facilitating the complex gasket -loading process.
• The gasket ring takes 10 mm diameter gasket blanks. A small pin is provided to enable gaskets to be replaced reliably.
• Four lateral ports are provided, two of which are tapped M3 to provide alternative mounting positions, such as on X-ray arcs.
The Diaclamp may also be manufactured in BeCu, an alloy with a much greater thermal conductivity than the steel from which the standard cells are constructed. With brass screws throughout, these cells are compatible also with high magnetic field environments.
Applications
The Diacell® Diaclamp is suitable for both Optical and X-Ray applications. This cell is particularly useful as a first DAC, because of its simpler sample-loading process when compared to other cells.
