Diacell® SymmDAC 100
Optical and X-ray Spectroscopy, Pmax = 50 GPa, T = 300 K, WD = 13.4 mm, A = 100°
- This is variation of the familiar so-called symmetric diamond anvil cell, shorter (27mm) than the more conventional SymmDAC 60 (34mm)
- Fitted with 4.00 mm Boehler- Almax anvils design anvils, SymmDAC 100, has the benefit of a large conical aperture of up to 100° on both sides
- The high pressure in the Diacell® SymmDAC 100 is achieved by the means of two pairs of left-hand/right-hand bolts, for pressures up to 50 GPa and above
- The Diacell® SymmDAC 100 enables either side to be used for collection or for introduction of electromagnetic beams (x-rays, laser, visible or infrared light)
- The complex gasket-loading process is facilitated by an easy access to the piston side anvil

Description
The Diacell® SymmDAC 100 is a variation of the standard SymmDAC 60. It preserves the symmetric access to the sample, but it is shorter and with a larger aperture.
The Diacell® SymmDAC 100 is fitted with 4.00 mm – 80° Boehler-Almax design diamond anvils that will offer a 100° conical opening for both excitation (optical or X-ray) or collection of emitted light or diffraction patterns. The Diacell® SymmDAC 100 enables either side to be used for measurements and has a 13.4 mm working distance to the sample.
The pressure mechanism is the screw driven one. The pressure is applied by mean of 4 screws, two left-handed and two right-handed screws working in conjunction with superposed Belleville springs. This combination will help the user to apply the load in a more controlled manner.
The complex gasket-loading process is facilitated by an easy access to the piston side anvil.

FAQs
What is the maximum pressure I can achieve with the SymmDAC 100 and a given culet size?
Culet size (µm) | 200 | 300 | 400 | 500 | 600 | 800 | 1000 |
Pmax (GPa) (*) | N/A | 64 | 41 | 27 | 18 | 10 | 7 |
(*) The Pmax values are only indicative. The maximum pressure achievable with a DAC is influenced by many others experimental parameters, like the gasket characteristics (material, thickness and hole size) or the pressure transmitting medium.
